American-Japanese Chef Jeff Okada Ramsey, known for his Michelin-starred cuisine in Tokyo, has garnered a well-deserved reputation for his exceptional culinary talent. His foundation of excellence in Japanese cuisine stems from his training with Masayoshi Kazato, the official Sushi Ambassador of Japan before becoming the first non-Japanese to be awarded the title World Champion Master Sushi Chef.
Chef Ramsey’s culinary path took an intriguing turn from his Japanese roots to discover and develop a bold experimental style that was cultivated by renowned Chef José Andrés, protégé of the legendary Catalonian chef Ferran Adrià of elBullí. Thereafter, he was handpicked by Japanese ‘super chef’ Hide Yamamoto as Executive Chef of Tapas Molecular Bar at the 6-star Mandarin Oriental Tokyo hotel. It was in this role that Ramsey explored his own style of modernist cooking, earning and retaining a Michelin Star.
With this Michelin background, Chef Ramsey traveled around the world and has been featured at numerous pop-up restaurants and also a sought-after culinary educator consulting on restaurant openings. Ramsey’s culinary journey took him to Kuala Lumpur where he created Japas and Kintsugi with The Clearwater Group,.
Chef Ramsey’s culinary prowess was further recognized in 2022 when he was awarded the prestigious title of Winning Challenger Chef for Iron Chef Thailand. His .remarkable achievement in the Iron Chef competition added another milestone to his already illustrious career, solidifying his status as a true culinary maestro.
